Reply to Instagram comments without scrolling the feed by hand

Connect Instagram to the AI agent: posts, Reels, comments and account insights. The agent publishes content, gathers replies and reports on reach and engagement.

How the agent works with Instagram

The agent calls the Instagram API through Instagram login on behalf of a professional account (a business or a creator): it reads the profile, the feed of posts and Reels, the comments under them, posts that tag the account, metrics for the account and for individual media, and follower geography. On top of that it calculates reach and engagement for the period you choose, compares posts against each other and shows which formats the audience watched through and which passed it by.

Publishing on Instagram is not one request but two steps: first a media container with a photo, a carousel or a Reel is assembled, and only after Instagram has processed it can the container be published. The agent holds that pause and waits for readiness instead of firing the post off blind and then dealing with the error. The second specific: the daily publishing quota is counted per account, not per app.

There are exactly two things the agent does as writes: it publishes prepared posts, Reels and carousels, and it replies to comments. Before publishing it checks how much of the daily quota is left and says so if it is already used up. Comments are sorted through first: real questions are separated from spam, and it shows what it intends to answer. It can only reply under the account's own posts: the API hands over no reply to a mention in someone else's.

The connection renews the access token on its own while it is valid. If Instagram revokes access or the token does expire, the connection asks you to log in again instead of repeating requests in vain. Other accounts and hashtag search are not available through Instagram login: public posts by hashtag have a separate skill. Instagram serves metrics with a delay of several hours and keeps them for a limited window, so a long history is assembled in pieces and the agent names the boundary beyond which there are no figures.

Integration scenarios

Comments with no reply

The agent collects comments under your latest posts, separates real questions from spam and answers the ones nobody has reacted to.

Publishing a post or a Reel

The agent builds a container with a photo, a carousel or a Reel, waits for it to be ready and publishes it to the account at the time you set.

Reach and engagement

The agent pulls account metrics for a period and for individual Reels and shows which posts landed and which passed the audience by.

Where you were tagged

The agent collects the posts that tag your account and shows who writes about you and which of those posts got a response.

Where your audience lives

The agent breaks followers down by country and city and lines that geography up against the reach of recent posts, so you can see who actually reads you.

Spam under your posts

The agent finds ads and bots under your posts, shows you the list and, once you agree, hides or deletes those comments.

How to connect

Before you connect

  • An Instagram professional account: business or creator
  • The instagram_business_basic permission for reads
  • The instagram_business_content_publish permission for posting
  • The instagram_business_manage_comments permission for comment replies
  • The daily per-account publishing quota not used up
  1. 1

Change the account type in Instagram settings

The API works only with a professional account (business or creator). A personal one gets no token; switch the type in Instagram settings.

  2. 2

    Create an app at developers.facebook.com

Go to developers.facebook.com/apps/creation/, enter a name and contact email and pick the Instagram use case. Instagram login does not need a business portfolio.

  3. 3

Grant permissions in the Instagram section

“API setup with Instagram business login”: instagram_business_basic, plus instagram_business_content_publish for posts, instagram_business_manage_comments for comments.

  4. 4

There click “Generate token” and copy it

In the same section click “Generate token” next to the account and log in to Instagram. The token starts with IGAA; while it is valid, the connection renews it itself.

FAQ

With an access token: switch the account to professional, create an app at developers.facebook.com, enable the permissions you need in the Instagram section and click Generate token. The token starts with IGAA; after that the connection renews it on its own.

The account profile, posts and Reels, comments, metrics for the account and for individual media, follower geography, and posts that tag the account.

It can: publish photos, Reels and carousels and reply to comments, provided the app has been granted instagram_business_content_publish and instagram_business_manage_comments.

Instagram caps the number of posts per account per day; the agent checks the remaining limit before publishing and tells you if the quota for today is already used up.
