## How the agent works with Рамблер Почта

The agent connects to the mailbox over IMAP and SMTP: the first thing it reads is the folder list, and from there it works with the messages themselves: subject, sender, date, body and attachments. It goes through the unread ones and shows which are waiting for a reply, finds a message by sender or subject and pulls the invoice, act or contract out of it to read what is inside rather than retell the file name.

What gets connected is not the account password but a special mail-client password that Rambler issues once IMAP access is switched on. One pair of address and password serves both IMAP and SMTP, so reading a thread and sending the reply run over a single connection. A mailbox has one such password: creating a new one revokes the previous one, and the connection has to be updated.

IMAP is not a copy of the mail but the mailbox itself: a read flag, a move to another folder and a deletion are applied on the server and show up immediately in all of your mail clients. So the agent triages the inbox step by step: first it shows what it found, and only then sorts, marks as read or deletes. A reply in a thread, a forward and a new email over SMTP are sent from your own address.

Access is limited to a single mailbox, the one whose address and password are connected; other mailboxes stay invisible to the agent. Access is revoked in the Rambler settings by switching mail clients off or creating a new password, without changing the account password. If the messages you asked for were not found or a folder is unavailable, the agent says so directly instead of showing an empty list.

The agent goes through unread messages and shows which ones are waiting for a reply, with subject, sender and date, without opening the mailbox.

## How to connect

**Before you connect**

- The full Rambler mailbox address and access to its settings.
- The agent reads every folder and sends mail on your behalf.

### Open «Безопасность» in your Rambler profile
Sign in at id.rambler.ru with the mailbox you are connecting and open the «Безопасность» (Security) section.

### Turn on mail-client access
Switch «Доступ к почтовому ящику с помощью почтовых клиентов» to «Вкл» and confirm the «Я не робот» check. While it is off, the mailbox rejects IMAP and SMTP logins.

### Create the special password
A button to create a mail-client password appears. Copy it with the full mailbox address. A new password revokes the old one: update the connection after recreating it.
