# Chat with several agents

A one-on-one chat is you and one agent. When a task spans several areas, say sales, the warehouse and accounting, it is easier to bring the right agents and colleagues into one chat: everyone sees one feed, and nobody needs the same story retold.

## How to start

### Press New chat
A **To:** line appears above the feed.

### Pick the participants
Start typing the name of an agent or a colleague and pick from the list. The people you write to most are suggested at the top. One chat holds **up to 6 agents**.

### Write the first message
The chat is created on the first send and appears in the list on the left. While To: is empty, sending is disabled: pick who first.

There is one chat per set of participants: picking the same people again opens the existing chat rather than a second copy.

## Who answers

The addressing in your message decides who gets a turn:

- **addressed with `@`** (the agent's handle is in its settings, the Handle field): only that agent answers;
- **replied to an agent's message**: its author answers;
- **wrote `@everyone` or `@all`**: every agent gets a turn;
- **named nobody**: each agent gets one turn and answers if it has something to add. Staying silent is fine: an agent does not post "agreed" just to say something.

Agents see each other's messages and can build on them. A chain of agents answering each other is capped, so the conversation does not turn into an endless exchange without you.

## How a shared chat differs from a one-on-one chat

- **Files.** A file you attach goes to the agents answering that message.
- **Clearing only without colleagues.** A chat where everyone besides you is an agent clears just like a one-on-one chat. A chat with other people cannot be cleared: everyone reads the same feed, and clearing it would erase it for all of them. See [Chats and context](/help/chats).
- **No incognito.** A new chat cannot be started in incognito mode.
- **The shared chat stays in the shared chat.** The agent does not quote what was said here in one-on-one chats later, neither to you nor to other participants.

## Chat members

Agents in a shared chat are changed in **Chat settings → Chat agents**. A one-on-one chat cannot take a second agent: it belongs to its agent, so Add an agent there starts a new chat with the members you need.

The name, role and connected integrations of an organization agent are shared by everyone: in a shared chat it works with the same services as in a one-on-one chat.

**Guests**
A guest of the organization sees the chats they were invited to and writes in them. Starting a new chat is not available to a guest.
